FRANCE, Royal (Restored). Louis Philippe, 1830-1848. Medal 1848 (Silver, 50 mm, 70.37 g, 12 h), on the National Assembly membership of Théophile Dufour, Paris. REPUBLIQUE - FRANÇAISE Faisceau from which emerges a hand of justice, surrounded by two cornucopia within an oak wreath, below MDCCCXLVIII. Rev. ✱LIBERTÉ•ÉGALITÉ•FRATERNITÉ✱ within wreath ASSEMBLÉE / NATIONALE / C.EN DUFOUR (Théophile). Beautifully toned. In original wooden case of issue. Tiny marks and scratches, otherwise, good extremely fine.

This medal was awarded in 1848 to Théophile Dufour (1800–1866), a landowner and merchant who served as the Moderate Republican deputy for the Aisne department in the National Assembly from 23 April 1848, to 26 May 1849. He aligned himself with the supporters of General Cavaignac during his term. In 1848, he was appointed Prefect of Aisne but declined the position.
